Painting
Painting
A central objective of the instruction in the painting degree programme is to explore the significance of painting in our time as a part of the discourses of contemporary practices and theories. Additional objectives include the examination of developments taking place in painting in relation to its traditions, to other forms of visual culture and to the different forms of expressions and media in contemporary art.
The programme will provide the student with the abilities to analyse the different forms of visual presentations, related contents of meaning and frameworks, with the aim of the student benefiting from them in the construction of his/her own ideas and artistic work. Support is given to the student so he/she can find his/her own expressive painting language, manage the tools and understand the connections of his/her own expressive language with the contexts of contemporary painting and the traditions of visual arts.
In the programme, the command of technical basic skills is integrated with conceptual and art theoretical thought processes in ways that focus on the students’ own artistic work and strengthen the source of their expression. The studies demand independent and persistent work.
