NON-DEGREE AND EXCHANGE STUDIES

The Academy has several co-operation agreements with art universities (NORDPLUS; ERASMUS LLP; FIRST, bilateral agreements). Student and teacher exchange is an important part of the co-operation. Besides these agreements, the Academy can accept for a term or for one academic year foreign art students from other art universities if applicants fulfill the artistic requirements. The applicant must have an ability to speak and understand English, Swedish or Finnish.

All applicants - both for exchange and other non-degree studies - must present a visual portfolio.

Procedure

Foreign students wishing to be accepted for exchange and non-degree studies have to send their written application with personal data to the Academy either by April 30 (for the autumn term or the whole academic year) or by October 31 (for the spring term only) with visual documents of their work (catalogues, photos, videos, CDs, DVDs etc.). Selection of non-degree and exchange students is done by Heads of Degree Programmes.

ENROLLMENT AND FEES

The enrollment takes place during the first two weeks of the autumn term in September; exchange and other visiting students enroll after their arrival. There are not yet any tuition fees for degree studies. Students on exchange programs such as SOCRATE/ERASMUS, NORDPLUS, FIRST, or on bilateral exchange programmes are not required to pay for tuition. Students moving outside the above mentionned programmes, i.e. free-movers, and other non-degree students are required to pay a study fee which varies between 800 and 1200 euros, depending on the degree programme and the study period.  Non-degree students are also required to cover material costs.
